
Clea Galhano, recorder, a native of Brazil, is well-known for her performances
in Early and Brazilian music and as a soloist with chamber ensembles across
the U.S. and South America and most recently with the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra,
conducted by Christopher Hogwood. She has studied in Brazil's Royal Conservatory,
the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston on a Fulbright scholarship and
in The Hague on a grant from the Dutch government. Her first CD Magic Circle
has received broad critical acclaim and public success. Other recordings include
Distribution of Flowers with guitarist Tony Hauser, Songs in the Ground with
harpsichordist Vivian Montgomery on the Ten Thousand Lakes label and on the
Brazilian label, Eldorado.
Margaret Humphrey, baroque violin, is currently an active Twin Cities freelance
musician. She has performed solo and in ensemble with the Lyra Concert, Rose
Ensemble, Ex Machina Baroque Opera Company, Minneapolis Chamber Symphony and
Music da Camera. Along with appearances at the Boston Early Music Festival and
the San Antonio Music Festival, Ms. Humphrey has performed and studied at the
Oberlin Baroque Performance Institute. Ms. Humphrey was heard live on WGBH,
Boston and on KSJN-Minnesota Public radio. She has toured widely in both the
U.S. and South America.
Rebecca Humphrey, baroque cello, recently moved to Philadelphia from Switzerland
where she was principle cellist with Kammerensemble Luzern and La Passione,
a baroque orchestra in Basel. Ms. Humphrey has performed as principle cellist
with the Lyra Concert, Ex Machina, with City Musick in Chicago, ArsMusica in
Ann Arbor and Genesee Baroque in Ithica, New York. Current engagements include
the Washington Bach Consort, The American Classical Symphony, Philomel Baroque
Ensemble and Bimbetta.
Barbara Weiss, harpsichord, currently teaches at the Oberlin Baroque Performance
Institute and at both the Indiana University Recorder Performers Seminar and
the Indiana University Recorder Academy. Previously she was on the faculties
of the Oberlin Conservatory, the University of Minnesota and Concordia College
while serving as music director of Ex-Machina. Ms. Weiss has performed at the
Boston, San Antonio and Berkeley Early Music Festivals, the Winnipeg Folk Festival
as well as with the Newbury Consort, the New International Trio, King's Noise,
Apollo's Fire, and Second City Music. Ms. Weiss has recordings on both the Flying
Fish and Harmonia Mundi labels.
